Update: Toronto Public Library Outages Caused by Black Basta Ransomware Attack

The Toronto Public Library (TPL) is currently experiencing technical outages due to a ransomware attack by the Black Basta group. The attack has caused the TPL website, online services, public computers, and printing services to be unavailable. However, there is no evidence that personal information has been compromised. TPL is actively working with law enforcement and cybersecurity experts to resolve the situation, but it may take several days to fully restore all systems. The Black Basta ransomware gang has been active since April 2022, targeting corporate victims and engaging in data theft. There may be a link between Black Basta and the Fin7 cybercrime operation.
