Hamas Likely Cooperates With Hackers to Stay Online
Researchers have found evidence suggesting cooperation between Hamas and Arabic-speaking hackers. Hamas has reportedly turned to external operators to keep its news website, linked to its military wing Al-Qassam Brigades, online during the war with Israel. The researchers discovered suspicious redirects and identical Google Analytics code associated with the website domain and about 90 other domains. One group of domains is believed to be linked to a state-sponsored cyber espionage group known for targeting Arabic-speaking individuals, believed to operate on behalf of Hamas. Another group of domains is suspected to be linked to Iran. This report sheds light on how these groups might assist each other, although evidence of cooperation is limited.
